Serious question, does anyone here trade mostly on instinct? Studies have shown that professionals aren't any better at picking stocks than children. Obviously this only applies to long term investments. I do keep up with general market news and use technical indicators to help time with the market but I don't do any deep research.

An example for when I bought Amazon years ago:
>See news about dip in stock price
>Already know Amazon is dominating the online market
>Really like the company's services
>Buy and hold

A general rule is that I don't buy anything that personally do not like (facebook) regardless of performance. I believe I'm a fairly rational buyer and people will eventually see the light.
