It was just hype and (mild) mass psychosis. People saw legit good traders like deepfuckingvalue and thought "hey this could be me!" despite being late to the party. Obviously no one will ever be honest and say he hoped to 100x his 200$ investment but deep down this is what people dreamed about. People who bought for 100 or less probably sold their shares for 3-4x gainz, the rest were FOMOd into buying anyway and told "yeah this is just the beginning!" by people just as dumb.
I'm not judging anyone since I was too blind/lazy to buy up until 200$. But I can understand the thought process. Money just makes people crazy.
