Legitimate question bros. My job is giving me a 4% raise this year, last year is was 5%. From June 2021 - June 2022 there has been massive inflation and CPI has gone through the roof. Should I try to push back on this 4% "raise"? How do I negotiate something like this? Just tell them that 4% is not even a raise when adjusting for inflation and CPI and that my cost of living is increasing faster than they're raising my wage?

I'd like to tell them to fuck off, but I'm in a situation where this job is in an extremely good place location wise, and my salary would have to be close to doubled for it to pay off commuting to the big city an hour north of me.

I'm also not very marketable in the filed that I'm in, and it'd probably take a miracle to land another job like this. Help me out fellas.

It doesn't matter what the politicians think. They already crashed the economy in February and March with their lockdown restrictions - in fact they're still doing in many states. What they're doing now with their stimulus is damage control. The US running deficits for decades proves that the federal government doesn't care about how much it spends.
They will try to put humpty dumpty back together. They will lie to themselves that the public's hunger can be satiated. Neither one is possible.

By stressing a lot, but also remembering there are a lot of frens among us who did manage to make it. Strange as it is, I'm more happy for them than regretful I wasted my own chance.

I've said it before on /biz/, be happy for your frens. I wish I never sold but like you I can't change the past. So when we wageslave, remember your frens, and wageslave a littler more comfortable, knowing they're happy.
Bonus if they're able to remake the reich.
