I dont regret my decision of buying russian stocks, my only regret is buying an ETF which allows a "board" to make these decisions. Id be perfectly fine holding these underlying assets for the next 20+ years and forget about them but they are forcing a write off.

They'll say some shit like its not worth anything or us/russian politic BS prevents them from being liquidated, I have no problem waiting 20 years for that to change, these are still real giant russian companies. mostly oil / gas companies.

If I would have done it again I would have just bought individual stocks like GAZPROM or SURGUTNEFTEGAZ. From my understanding holding the individual stocks yourself you have more control from this stuff happening.
