Are you of a jewish persuasion, perhaps? Also you don't seem to understand the markets at all. Gen X have kids and they will buy or support their kids. Nobody is suffering from elevated housing prices except those that are truly poor. And since prices only go up, even if you buy now you will still make a nice profit and have a roof over your head.
I still prefer renting because it's just so cheap in Europe.
Whether all this is inflationary or not remains to be seen. Higher prices but lower consumption
