Chainlink network does the same thing for smart contracts but instead of scalability it provides security and reliability to incoming and outgoing smart contract data by providing decentralised oracles. Without security, smart contracts will always be relegated to the domain of tokens and never for high value transactions like remittances, insurance payments, and derivatives trading. Incoming and outgoing data to and from the smart contract can be tampered with, therefore, it's imperative there is a decentralised network to oversea it. The chainlink network ensures that the data is secure end-to-end.

ChainLink is blockchain agnostic and can be currency be used with BTC, ETH and hyperledger blockchain.

LINK is a ERC667 token, a more secure version of the ERC20 token, created by ChainLink developer, Steve Ellis. It is the cryptocurrency payment for using the ChainLink network, which will be composed of thousands of nodes working together secure smart contract data, end-to-end.
