I've noticed a lot of threads as of recently about the whole "learn to code" thing. As a seasoned code monkey veteran, I feel it's my duty to clear some things up. As such, I will be listing a few things that I consider essential to any coding skill set.

1. The Terminal
The terminal is what you use to run tasks, plain and fucking simple. If you're not using the terminal at some point in your coding process, you're doing it wrong. Get fluent with batch coding, shell scripting, and anything else similar you can get your hands on. This is one of the first things you should ever learn when you start coding, full stop.

2. OOP vs DOP
Learning the distinctions between object-oriented programming (OOP) and data-oriented programming (DOP) is very important. In the coding style that I personally have adopted, I use OOP for interconnecting pieces of code and DOP for the algorithms inside those code pieces. Find what works best for you, or what's most intuitive, and refine it.

3. The File System
Keeping a healthy and maintained workspace is essential to having readable and editable code. If you're wasting two minutes trying to find a file, and you do that twenty times a day, that time adds up. Learn to keep a mental map of your codebase, and work to maintain the grounds within that map.

These are just three things that I came up with that I do. I'm sure there are more, but the point is gotten across. Maintain healthy code, work to improve your skills, and know what the fuck you're doing.

When should we tell the developers that their game is hackable? I think I'll take that bitcoin for myself.

Most nootropics are useless or have a very narrow scope of benefits.

>Bacopa/Synapsa
Proven to increase memory ability
>Caffeine
Yep.
>Amphetamine (Adderall etc)
Mild cognitive benefits
>Afinils (adrafinil/modafinil/armodafinil/analogs)
Slight cognitive benefits
>Magnesium
helps with stimming

Those are the ones I think are noticeably effective. There's a bunch of other shit I tried too but that's the top list.

I have an informations systems bachelors and am currently working my first IT/data job, next step I want to do is either SYstems analyst or get into the security side for the healthcare industry. Any suggestions on which route and how to make the leap from an entry level position that is basically just me teaching myself everything I need to know to do my job?

It pays off if you bought the ICO. Buying into the Golem ICO was one of the best things I have ever done.

I can actually buy a Lambo.

Right.

So, for example, Ethereum is considered a potentially decent basis for creating an Internet of Things because it already has a large network of miners, and the larger the network becomes, the more secure it is. This acts as a disincentive to copy cats creating what are essentially variants of the Ethereum Virtual Machine, because their coin wouldn't have a comparable network of miners, and consequently would be less secure (although it the tech was arguably better, miners could adopt it, but it would take time, and miner adoption is typically a slow process).

Anyway, the point I was getting at is, how can IOTA ensure that it won't be replaced by a different Tangle based currency? As previously mentioned, Ethereum has significant miner support based on a large scale network. If IOTA has no mining to start with, what incentive is there for individual or networks to buy it, when they could just develop their own tangle currency for a lower price?

I'm trying to find new connections and leads on projects to work on as a freelance web and software developer.

I have quite a few years of experience, but so far most of my work has been acquired by word of mouth.

I've been sending dozens of well written, solution-presenting proposals on upwork, but it's tough to get started on there without any reviews.

I have scheduled my admission interview for toptal for tomorrow, so I'm trying to get into that platform as well.

What am I missing? Could I be doing something more in order to maximize my chances of finding great, challenging, interesting work?

I actually think it's more meta than that:

The price dropped because transaction backlog caused by fundamental scalability issues and the Bancor ICO. People started to panic sell. Several hours later, (blatantly, imho) fake news comes out claiming Vitalik is dead.

Now all the normies (including my own normie family member who bought crypto) are saying the crash happened because of fake news.

The crash did not happen because of fake news. This is a cover story (it literally is on the front cover of Wikipedia). I think those with power to manipulate the market (Coinbase especially) organized a concerted effort to maintain the price above $200.

Think about all the large companies that bought into ICO's. Think about the big exchanges. They don't want the price of crypto to go to $0. I am convinced they had a part in distributing this fake news. I'm thinking we are still going to be in a long term bearish trend.

Why (serious question, trying to understand your point of view better).

As far as connecting different blockchains goes, Ethereum is the clear winner. Not only is it the basis for a number of tokens, it is also using the Ethereum protocol to connects dozens, if not hundreds, of private blockchains that form the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. As of right now, Ethereum is the industry standard for inter-blockchain connectivity.

Ethereum is an open source, public, blockchain based, decentralized computing platform, utilizing smart contract functionality.

^I memorized that for the normies.
