I need more practice. I'd say I'm about N3 level. My point is exactly this though - I spend 4 hours a day preparing/commuting for work, waste time at work just checking stocks because that's important for my finances but also the only mentally stimulating thing I can do that I don't mind dropping at a moment's notice if real work comes through, and when I get home I want to spend time with my gf and cook dinner for us (she's the breadwinner). When I lay in bed to start the same thing all over again another day, my thoughts are always "I wish I had more time to do more Japanese today..." where I guilt trip myself and zap motivation with negative self-talk. "Why aren't you further in your studies?"

At this point I'm at intermediate plateau and can only progress with actually practicing since almost all of my studies thus far have been reading/listening comprehension. But my other responsibilities in life suck that away from me. Dunno why I'm rambling my sorrows out on /smg/ of all places. Guess I just really am hopeful for UBI and want to let my voice out there. There ARE people like me who want to use UBI to actually do something useful that they're passionate about, I'm sure most people would desu. Just having to be on the clock for stienberg even if you're doing nothing WFH has a mental tax on your ability to do those things.
