I only started playing Magic:the gathering for fun but the people at my LGS are a lot of dumb rich kids. so over the years I've been pretty successful at trading but I never cashed out. Now I find out that I had to file form 8949 Sales and other Dispositions of Capital Assets for EVERY FUCKING TRADE BASED ON MARKET VALUE AT THE TIME? Guys, I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do. I ended up holding a lot of shit that was nominally a lot higher when I made the trades. Now if I liquidated my collection I'd never be able to cover the supposed liability because all the cards I was trading rotated out of standard. A big tax loss this year won't help me as I have no other income. What the fuck, I just wanted to play Magic.
