Nobody was buying (and nobody is buying today) japanese dollars.
American dollars are necessary to buy oil, so everyone buys them. The USA government has a natural monopoly over the production of the USD, a commodity everyone needs, everyone is always buying and hoarding, and is of great utility in diplomacy. You remember when Saudi Arabia needed an ally to help it kill Iraq? So the king of Saudi Arabia bought some dollars, then used these dollars to buy some guns. This alone recovered much of the inflation caused by the war itself.
Print dollars == make inflation. Sell dollars == export inflation. And since the whole world is sharing in the burden of USA inflation, what is it inflated relative to? Nothing, just meme shit like gold and crypto. So its not even real inflation.

Your country's inflation is bad. USA's inflation is irrelevant.
