I think that the short take on the PM market right now might be this:

weird spreads, price movement, and market behavior are pretty much inevitable if you shut down big chunks of the economy, have huge moves in equities, etc. All kinds of big players looking to adjust and cover various things.
So what we are seeing in the PM markets right now (bit of instability) would be happening EVERYWHERE (bonds, mortgages, etc. etc.) if the Fed didn't wade into things last week swinging a big cock. They probably aren't rushing too much to add liquidity to the gold market because frankly, it isn't really that important.

best I can do right now. If there is some stranger voodoo going on, we'll find out about it when the headlines hit
