Searching "sterling" in titles AND descriptions in backwater categories can be pretty productive. The majority of sterling gets listed under the main "antiques" category in the "silver" subcategory and that is where boomers go to browse for deals and then wind up bidding everything up, but some good silver winds up in weird categories and can fly under the radar. Searching for more unusual alloys like 950, 935, 900, 835, 830, 800 etc. can also be worthwhile. Good luck!

>This seller says this is plated but the pieces don't say plate anywhere on it. In fact they say 975. Is this because its leaf?

Not sure about the legal requirements for Canadian silver but that set is indeed plated, Meridian almost exclusively produced plated wares and the few Sterling pieces they made were stamped "STERLING". 975 is a style/model or inventory number and has nothing to do with the fineness. Good looking out but a good bet for finding cheapies is locating stuff marked Sterling that is listed in silly categories without mentioning it in the title or even called plated in the title when the markings all say sterling, doing targeted searches in descriptions in certain categories can yield juicy fruit if I haven't beaten to to it.
