I would guess that if the the US makes any meaningful statement on the Japan-Korea spat it will be a tweet from Trump. So far, nothing.
Trump seems to be rather taken with Kim, the North Korean leader for now. I wonder if the US will just watch how it develops for now. Strategically, maybe we would want to try and stop the dispute before it escalates.

I'm sure that lasting dispute between our two main East Asian allies would be very welcome in Beijing and Pyongyang.
