most white collar jobs are indeed redundant. New Fiscal year happens, the dept, gets more money, and a chunk of that is spent of recruitment. Why? so more of the work is spread out lightening the workload of everyone. This is how you end up with people that get nothing done. because there is nothing to do. So they read emails and have meetings for a majority of their day. the rest is spent in excell looking over data, or delegating tasks.
I work in Trucking now having previously worked in and around tech. the level of task saturation i experience would be considered inhuman by most tech workers. Most trucking terminals, in terms of management, work on the most skeleton of crews. one person is generally responsible for 20 dock workers, planning routes for 30+ LH drivers, load factor, freight management, equipment levels, and processing data that is generally an hour late. Any other industry, 10 people would be dedicated to all of that.
again, yes. most jobs are redundant and can be done by a vastly smaller crew.
