Look at LINK earnt by nodes - 7.7m USD past week

Look at gas spent by nodes fulfilling requests - 1000 ETH - roughly 17m USD

Gas has on average exceeded LINK earnt by nodes for many weeks to months, and when its not exceeded, nodes have only been marginally profitable.


So, what does this mean? Why do they continue operating? Nodes are not profitable.

Simple. The shortfall is made up by nodes selling all their LINK earnt, and the team using some of the 1,500,000 LINK they move out of their wallets every week to supplement nodes who then dump it, or alternatively the team dump LINK for the nodes and pay them in ETH/stablecoins.

This is creating persistent selling pressure every week - every LINK earnt by nodes is dumped, a lot of what the Chainlink team pulls out every week is dumped in the name of 'bootstrapping'.

1.5m LINK is 35m USD sell pressure every fucking week.

Some of those LINK withdrawals are dumped to fund team expansion and the ballooning team bankroll.


LINK is not mooning for all of this.
It's not CZ, its' not exchanges, it may be some MM and whale manipulation, but it's fundamentally because the incentive structure to hold LINK is broken.

What's the answer?
OCR.
OCR will massively reduce gas fees, so that nodes won't need subsidies and they'll be profitable. They won't sell all their LINK and start hoarding in preparation for staking.

When is OCR coming? Who fucking knows, hopefully during this alt season, otherwise all that momentum that other projects are benefiting from will miss LINK this cycle, and it'll have to be a later alt season (or isolated LINK season again) when we see big moves up.

Good news? When OCR comes, this multi month slow creep up/consolidation is going to fucking explode and we will see price action shooting us to 3rd-4th.
