The main idea is that you can diversify your portfolio and take away major risk factors and in return recieve a lower expected return.

But in the end many active funds cannot compete with index funds

If i was never gonna use the house, i would probably sell it and invest in a low risk index fund because the ROI would probably be more than 5% and i would not have to maintain the house. The 2 jokers are market correction with the interest rate bound to go up at some point and the house prices which can increase fast (depending on the area)

Hey /biz,

I was wondering if it was possible to take a relatively large student loan and reinvest it into diverse funds yielding a 6% growth. By example, taking a 200000 loan which will produce a superior amount after 5 years. The loan will be fully paid back instantly after studies. Keeping in mind that only interest has to be paid during the studies. Where I live, the interest rate is 3.8 %.
