the bogleheads are talking about holding part of their savings/emergency fund in short term bond funds like BSV or even VUSB (new extreme short bonds under 1 year). The etfs owns the bonds you buy into so there's no chance of losing your money in a bank run. VUSB is only down 2% even with the the 2022 crash
