Can someone please explain to me how a cryptocurrency project that started as a literal joke is as of this moment worth $27 Billion United States Dollars.

I don't get it. What does it do? It's literally just a picture of a dog making a funny face. I mean, I love this picture and the memes it created. But how does this valuation make any sense?

For context, Ford, the company that invented the process for mass production of consumer vehicles, making transportation over great distances achievable for the regular citizen, profoundly changing the course of western life, is worth less than double this.

How is any person in the business world ever supposed to take their life seriously again? You can spend years building a business from the ground up, and if you're lucky you might get your original investment back plus a decent return of a few percent. But no. f--- that. Just make a crypto coin joke and become a billionaire ovenright. What is the point of ever trying to start a serious business again?
