Are you me?

My only advice would be to hire a food prep person who can make all the little fruit garnishes. Real tiki drinks are kinda complicated to make and anything you can do to simplify that process will help.

Obviously I'm sure you know who Martin Denny is so you should have that shit playing on repeat.

The thing that drives me fucking crazy about this whole home buying experience is how you literally have no idea how much buying a house actually costs you.
>The listed price for this home is $599k? Cool that's in my range.
>Well hold on there, that's just the listed price. You may need to offer an additional $15-$35k.
>Uh, OK seems kinda weird and time wasting to list a fake price but fine, we offer $615k. I have enough for a 20% down payment but it'll be tough.
>Well hold on buddy, you need to pay an additional $24k in closing costs on this home.
>What even are those?
>Fees and stuff. Also you need to shell out about $600 for the home inspection. And $1500 for the lawyer. And $1200 for the movers.
>Uh huh...So to be clear, this house is listed at $599k, but they really want $615k, and I need to have about $150k cash in hand to make the purchase, and roughly $30k of that doesn't even go to the actual purchase of the home?
>And don't forget to tip your realtor. :)

The Athenians famously had a lot of internal strife, you’re projecting a modern view on Athens. In a sense, it was actually the reforming of the state that made the Athenian identity. Before that, there were conflicting tribes and kinship groups in Athens that had burst into such violence against each other it was threatening the polis, so Solon was appointed and he reformed the constitution. But Solon’s reforms didn’t last long, and the tyranny of Pisistratus filled the void (which incidentally was considered a relatively prosperous time). When the sons of Pisistratus were expelled, Cleisthenes eventually came into power and set out to remake the constitution again to try to make a lasting peace and avoid another tyranny. To do that, he is considered to have instantiated the “democracy” in Athens, which involves breaking up the constitutional power associated with the tribes and kinship groups and putting more power in the demes, which were basically just geographical districts that intermixed the tribes and kinship groups in order to diffuse loyalties and increase civic identity. But an additional necessity that increased the identity of Athens was its concurrently growing empire, the dominion over neighboring city states. The mixture of empire and jostling political power into more of a mixed up citizenry opened the door for Athenians to start to feel proud of being “Athenian”. In a sense, a strong Athenian identity was social engineered by elites trying to stop blood feuds so that they could defend themselves from tyrants and Persians.
