you would have to make a quick decision whether you're in or out. pic related is what happened to Lockheed Martin stock when the Ukraine war first broke out. it pumped for 7 out of 8 days straight before selling off and if you bought the stock on day 1 or 2 - you could have made a nice +20-30% or so. if you used call options you probably could have +300% or more easily. maybe +1000%

you just have to determine for yourself how big of a deal the breaking news is and you have to execute quickly because the market will price it in quickly and you need to monitor it closely. the stock will probably overshoot as well so you dont want to get too greedy and probably want some tight stop-losses if you're sitting on nice profit
