I probably mentioned I made my second million US working at moly mines. I did a million dollars worth of work for Freeport at their Climax and Henderson mines between 2008 and 2012.

their lots and roads are made of high grade moly ore. You just pick up any rock on the road and it's shot full of moly crystals. Cool stuff but almost worthless.

I worked briefly in metals mining until I learned the contractors were making far more than me. It's a healthy incentive to strike out on your own once you've got the connections.
