i agree with you that NFTs were the wrong move but there's not many gme could have made that would be right. They're a pretty garbage company and have been for many years. At least the NFT doesn't really cost them anything unlike say trying to develop or publish a game where they would have to invest millions.

I don't think in the grand scheme of things Steam hurt gamestop all that much. It probably hurt best buys more as I remember they used to have a huge pc section when I was kid. The real event that put the screws to physical stores was when every console copied steam and made their own digital stores. Then things like gamepass really are making everything much worse for physical stores. Why buy one $60 dollar games when microsoft will let you day one rent it and several hundred other titles for a few bucks a month.
