Remember that staking is a meme. Think about the conditions that will have to be in place before people are making money from staking in other people's nodes.
The value of contracts flowing through the Chainlink network will have to be so great that the bootstrapped node operators can't meet demand without "borrowing" link from other people.
At this point they will take other people's "staked" link, at a lower return to themselves than their own link, simply to meet demand.
By the time this is happening, the Chainlink network will be groaning under the requirements of millions and millions of dollars of value flowing through it. Node operators will already be making huge profits, they will be vying for link, they will be buying up the supply, and only when there is no other option will they be borrowing link at a lower return in order to use it to collateralise contracts.

So in short, by the time any non-node operator is actually making any decent money from staking their link, the network will be a huge, massive success. Chainlink tokens will be $100 each before anyone (who isn't running their own node) makes any money from staking. "Wen staking" is a meme. There is a lot to be excited about with Chainlink but staking is a red herring.

I object to your use of the word "lucky". There is nothing lucky about Chainlink.
