I know to the world I look like a moron. 7 years of marriage, yet I have no idea what 'we' pay in taxes. I have no idea how much my husband has in his bank account, I don't know nearly as much as I should about our real estate investments either. I've just never cared. I've always trusted my husband wholeheartedly. This is rooted in Christianity and traditional values but not entirely. I just really trust in my husband to make sound financial decisions and take care of his family.

At Thanksgiving my grandma discretely handed me a check. My husband says it's mine to do with as I please and that he can't help me out because it's not enough to put towards real estate (he buys everything cash).
So after some research my idea is as follows:
$10k I bonds
$10k VT Index Fund
$5k other etf

if I do this will my money at least not lose value? (Plan to keep money in I bond for 5+ years).
