Its so obvious now isnt it? It was always magic. It was always a meme. If we all died tommorow and got dug up by aliens they would be perplexed by the ritual items we carry with us. Bits of paper or metal with strange symbolism written all over them. Did a pleb in the roman empire understand that they were carrying around bags full of magic totems? That when they aquired their wine and bread they were performing a religious ritual to the deified man whos face is on the coin? How did any power ever manage to achieve this divine position? That they can bless certain banal objects and make them the very center of our small and meaningless lives? 1/2
