New Mexico is very comfy, but sort of 20 years behind the rest of the country. It exists in its own weird purgatory. Tons of beautiful outdoors and mountain access and being high elevation means it's way cooler than Phoenix all year round. Albuquerque is basically a giant small town, so don't expect it to be the most "exciting" place in the world.
