again, it depends on the scale and complexity of the system, i.e. if you add battery backups, additional panels, ect. Swanson overestimated the price/watt, meaning his models are too pessimistic. The dude is probably the smartest guy in solar and is worth listening to.

keep in mind musk's influence on the company is somewhat muted, he's only on the board. I think it is his cousin that runs it. SCTY made a deal with TSLA to use their batteries though and the two companies are targeted by the same fan-boy type of investors to a certain extent, but it is a super cool business model. Even Goldman is looking into selling residential solar-backed bonds which could really bust the whole industry open.

SCTY is a straight residential solar play that is levered to consumer spending more so than the long-term trajectory and adoption of solar as an energy source...a lot of their future is tied up in the way net-metering legislation shakes out..
