Just dawned on me today how far things go downhill every market cycle crash/end. I can remember exploring around a mall that was slowly fading in 00s and it was still lively and you could walk into electronic shops and play the original Xbox demo machine. Mid 2010s and it was turned into a skateboard shop/skate place, mall was on its way out by then but was still a comfortable experience to sit around and take in the slower environment and background music, like a slice of heaven. Now it's completely shut down mall is locked. Every crash just seems to degrade societal cohesion, and people nowadays just can't enjoy some calm moment, always noise always consuming something. Best thing money could buy it can't buy and it's a sense of peace.
