I work for one of the companies you listed, in the ads space. I sold ~60% of my vested equity due to ‘roni fears in January, but price is almost back at where I sold (albeit the BTC/LINK/PM ETFs i bought with my stockies are up big. would rather have my company’s stock longterm). This has made me consider your question quite a bit.
Will give you my thoughts from someone who works on the business side of one of these products. Or I’m a LARP. My fucking internet is out again so posting on phone.
tldr- the only major threat to digital ad stocks (fb, goog, partially amzn) is modern/effective privacy legislation. similar to some of the stuff eu has been passing re: cookies, data, tracking urls.

another potential (low chance) threat is a major consumer shift away from Chrome towards more decentralized/privacy-focused browsers...kinda like when everyone and their two dads moved from IE to Firefox/Chrome/Opera around 2010. don’t see this happening (people are fucking dumb), but have a small bit of BAT just in case.

This anon is right-ish. Average CPCs are declining due to the increase of traffic from quarantine. I think Google mentioned in their earnings call that search/yt activity is 3-4x average.
But, this anon is wrong-ish because 1. The traffic increase obviously/financially compensates for CPC decrease 2. Competitive ad landscapes (e.g. e-commerce) *aren’t* seeing much of a CPC decrease while simultaneously seeing a 3-4x+ traffic increase.

Pandemic nearly wiped out ad revenue from travel/entertainment. Earnings reports from ad giants show a significant drop in revenue around March caused by these industries, but it’s only a slightly above average dent for these giants .

Only things I’ve seen seriously shock the industry are 1. EU legislation 2. Safari/Firefox privacy changes eg Safari ITP and all the current 3p cookie changes.

Link is a scam and here's why. The economics of the whole thing aren't sensible. They simply won't work. No one is going to pay for data that can get for free, no matter the quality. Sergey knows this and he continues to perpetuate his science project like a wannabe Jeff Bezos. Even Vitalik himself says Sergey is over valued.
