>I’m unfortunately very new to PMG. What are some things you wish you knew before accumulating a stack?
Basically everything in this list here. I brought two 1oz gold bars without realizing they're not free from capital gains tax, so I ended up selling them so I could get some coins instead. I didn't lose much in terms of potential profits, but it still hurts that I could have more metals if I knew then what I know now.

Something to factor as well Anon is the nature of the item.

Premium generally corresponds to this.

Ie. the fancier (and smaller) the format, generally higher the premium.

For instance an official coin, produced and backed by a national mint (ex. American silver eagle), will command a higher premium than a generic silver round.

This has been true throughout history and is the reason why coins were developed in the first place; they are pre-weighted amounts of a metal, in a convenient format and stamped with the official seal of government. Ie. the govt decrees that this here is one ounce of pure silver.

As such they will be trusted by people more - more likely to be exchanged and for a higher value. Then, say an undifferentiated lump of metal (which is what humans used before coins).

The trick is to try and find the best items for the lowest premiums. By watching for sales, buying dips and making contacts with vendors and LCS’s.

So regarding your Italian bar. Yes it had a lower premium. But it also would be seen as less attractive by the average buyer, when you go to resell. It’s all a balancing act.

Yes. Just buy a sovereign a month for a period of ten to twenty years. It will be your pension pot, or a deposit for a house by the time you will get to use it. Also this guide is for newbies like you.

Okay lads, I'm doing an American version of this. Going to be changing the coins to a 1/4 ounce American Gold Eagle and 1/4 ounce Krugerrand. Tell me what part of the text needs rewriting and give me info regarding silver.

Here's your starter pack. If you're American go for 1/4 ounce American Gold Eagles or Krugerrands instead as they're more liquid there. Also you don't get ass raped by silver premiums like you do in the UK so you can go for them if they're worth it.

If your mindset is that you will use your gold and silver to buy goods, then premiums don't matter because you're thinking along the lines outside of fiat. When it comes to gold vs silver premiums, it is very clear you get ass raped on silver as gold is 3% premium per ounce while silver is 30% premium per ounce.

Got a flyer in the mail today. One of those travelling “we will buy your gold!!!” Shows. Haven’t seen one of them in years. Emphasis was on Gold and Silver - they’ll take it all.

Haven’t seen one of those in many years, someone is definitely bullish on PMs.

Welcome Anon. Don’t listen to all of these Jewish shills trying to demoralize and scare you away. Check out pic related

Ultimately you want to acquire as much metal as possible, as close to SPOT price as possible. Below is even better but rare. Any difference in price above spot is called a Premium and you want to keep that to a minimum.

Premium will vary depending on the origin, format and quality of the piece(s) you buy. Sometimes it’s worth it (ie. for a higher quality piece from a sovereign country’s mint - giving it authenticity and a trusted format) and sometimes it’s not (ie. for an antique or relic coin whose premium is entirely subjective value).

Hope this helps. Welcome to a Free World where you control the money you earn - not some Kike banker trying to fuck you over.

And most importantly:

>there are no stupid questions - only stupid answers.
