Posits that since the domain smartcontract.com was registered before the Bitcoin paper was even released, Sergey was indeed there since the beginning.
Doesn't account for the fact that he could have acquired the domain later.

Nobody honest denies Sergey is an old fag though, he has always been respected in the scene (and that was the reason I went in the Chainlink presale while it didn't even have a whitepaper).

What you have to consider is what will it take for a x1000 to occur nowadays. I personally don't think speculation alone will push any cryptocurrency to $100 Billion or even just $30B marketcap anymore.
It will need actual usage. Bitcoin had the dark markets and libertarian store of value, Ethereum has ICOs.

The next contender will need to strike harder and be actually used as a currency. For that it needs to scale seamlessly, be decentralized (bye Ripple, NANO, NEO, EOS), and be stable.

The stability part is currently being tackled by projects such as MakerDAO and soon Basecoin, Havven, Fragments and many others. Note how 3 of those build on Ethereum. What that tells me is that although stable coins will be a core component of the decentralized economy, and certainly a great investment, the most fundamental investment you can make is in the underlying smart contract platform that will be able to run this stable coin at scale.

Right now the only serious contenders to that title that I see are those 5 (in no particular order):

Ethereum 2.0
> PoS, state sharding
Zilliqa
> tx sharding, on-demand state fetching)
Cardano
> PoS and tons of interesting ongoing development, some flaws found in Ouroboros but nevertheless brilliant team who I'm sure will find solutions.
Dfinity
> Needs to have its security properties be formally defined, but if it does hold, it will be big
Thunder
> Accelerator, PoS. Nobody is talking about this one yet but it's going to be big.
