>What's the end goal of money?
Real money = reducing the transactional cost of trade.
Fiat money = create a device that enables theft from the masses (inflation) without them realizing it.

A house doesn't have to be a good investment compared to all other assets.
It just has to be a better investment than renting, to make sense.
Unless you plan on living in a pile of stock certificates and some gold coins?

It depends on your jurisdiction.
I was afraid of divorce rape, but then I looked up the laws in my state and they are actually very fair.
For example even if you make millions, there is a low cap on monthly alimony and it only lasts a short time.

Want to mortgage a house that’s in a different part of the country and rent it out until it’s paid off then move into it. Will the banks deny me if they realize my income/employer is 1000 miles away from the property address or will they not give a shit?

I think what's important is the narrative has shifted from iron clad 0% chance the market declines, to admitting a downward trajectory.

I've been thinking of how to solve the jannie problem, aka the child porn problem. In other words, how to host an unmoderated forum that doesn't bear any legal liability for its unmoderated content. Here is my working theory:

1. Individual posts and comments are hosted by the user that posted them, not actually hosted by the website itself. Any time a user posts something, it is hosted on his computer and an address is given to the forum.

2. The forum is an aggregator of addresses, telling every visiting user where to fetch these posts and comments (from other users). It never actually hosts the post content itself.

3. Every time you open a thread, you are downloading a separate file from every user who has posted in that thread, using the addresses provided. Once you download their file, their post/comment/image loads into your browser in the placeholder field established by the website.

4. This decentralized hosting of posts and comments would allow the boards to feature illegal content without 4chan itself bearing any legal responsibility, since it wouldn't be hosting the content itself, just giving each user a reference of where the download the content.

5. This would allow the entire site to operate unmoderated. It would need user-level moderation tools that allow each user to block content from the creator of posts they don't like. So if you don't like seeing CP spammed, then you can just block the CP spammers and all their future posts are blocked from your view.

I'm invested in VFIAX (Vanguard 500 Index Fund Admiral Shares) and VIGAX (Vanguard Growth Index Fund Admiral Shares) for the very long term (30+ years).

Do you guys think investing in American markets like this is a good strat, or should I include foreign markets in my future investments to diversify?

On the one hand, I firmly believe in free market capitalism and its ability to outperform everything else. But on the other hand, America has been moving away from that standard for a long time, and it seems to be getting even worse over time.
