Just withdraw your money from the exchange. It's not like you can't.

Had an interview today, got asked to "sell this mug". I went through the laundry list of tactics: social proof (hundreds of people have this mug), scarcity (there are only two of these mugs on the planet), authority (doctors recommend this mug), reciprocation (get a free sample of coffee with this mug), commitment/consistency (do you enjoy coffee? then you'll love this mug) and familiarity/similarity/attractiveness (this mug brought you by a WASP middle class male/female). In addition I elaborated that business need a unique selling point/value proposition to succeed.

The interviewer seemed pissed that I was opting for seedy tactics (I'm not, I'm pointing out what it is that motivates/influences buyers) then went on to explain that their company, Just Eat if you're interested, is more focused on an "Apple like strategy, winning the hearts of customers"

And where the fuck is heart and soul in a fucking mug? AND in Just Eat? I have 0 personal connection to Just Eat yet I use it all the time, it's functionally superior to any other method of ordering food (differentiation by utility) motivated also by social proof (my friends introduced me to it) and scarcity (there are no solid alternatives). All this wuwu bullshit about inspiration and winning people's hearts is absolutely laughable when all that is is a function of a number of different factors amalgamated into one broad ass term "winning their hearts".

I'm really curious what other candidates are saying in order to win this faggot over, because I'm pretty sure it's 90% idiotic, extremely sexy women who believe in the power of yoga and lattes and Apple, because that is the only type of person I saw around the office.

I don't really understand economics (especially macroeconomics) all that well, and I want to learn about it.

Is there a book that will walk me through basic concepts and explain how different things have an impact on the economy and in what way?

I don't want to learn advanced economical theories, I just want to educate myself on the actual mechanics of it. Do you have any recommendations for a book I could read?
