I'm a junior tech exec at one of the oldest tech companies in the USA. Credentialism is alive and well in 2023, if I didn't have my master's from a top uni then I probably wouldn't have this job.

Having said that, you need to fight for yourself and claw for higher social status. If you accept your current position as a wagie/codemonkey, you slowly start to seal your fate forever, which is what most people do.

Execs get shit done and add "value" to the company/firm.
