As long as De Beers can maintain its majority position on the international market as a producer and seller, it would be pretty safe even though they artificially keep the supply lower by storing diamonds in warehouses.

If other competitors would force them out of this position, there could be a lowering of prices. Some for example look at artificial diamonds as a potential threat.

I'd buy bullion instead because it gives a bit more certainty in the long term.
