Raw material consumption like steel, copper are good indicators of order volumes and future production on the 1-2 year scale. Cars and new constructions are good indicators on current consumer health (too big to use CCs). Debt, mortgage rates and delinquency rates forecast future consumer spending. Corporate bankruptcies and truckers indicate near future market activity.

Indicators like inflation, GDP, jobs, CPI, PMI are too heavily manipulated by politics, and also quietly revised a few months later.
