I like gold because its boomer stocks. Each time there is a panic they flee into cash and gold.
Its my main hedge. I know other hedges (VIX, Puts, maybe even certificates from banks, etc.) could be better, but having physical gold is calming.

Most Germans I know have no knowledge about financials and are some of the most fearful people I know.
Anything that doesnt involve talking to Frau Himmler from the local Sparkasse or some other boomer bank is seen as gambling. Even basic ETF strategies are seen as suspicious.
The most inept and scared people I have ever seen in that regard.

Not saying I have that much of an idea but I know potential when I see it. This is not the Congo. It will be interesting to watch
