Also gold doesn't take up much space, so it's really easy to hide. Pic is 53 oz. For perspective, even the smol silver wiener tubes are bigger than these.

Restrikes aren't fakes. The difference is the restrike is an official reproduction. But either way, the roosters, vrenelis, etc. people are stacking aren't very old or rare coins.
I wouldn't care either way if I got a restrike, so long as premium is low. I'm not in this to buy art objects, that's for the rich.
Anyway so far I've only bought krugerrands.

They're an all around a good choice. Low premiums, high liquidity, and they don't need much special care. Pure 24K gold should be kept in capsules ideally, but with .900 or .916 you can just use flips until you have enough for a tube. And without the capsules they take up less space. I can fit all those coins in 3 tubes, so it's easy to hide them. The tubes are surprisingly heavy when full, it's almost surreal.
