I am considering welding together a 10" or 12" steel cube to mount a Amsec Star floor safe door but I am unsure the appropriate thickness of steel to use. 7/8" or 1-1/8"?
Amsec calls the Star safe a "C" rate door as the center 7.1 square inches, or 16% out of the safe door's 44.2" square, is protected by 1" of steel while the rest is 1.75".

This makes the star door by one measure 75% thicker than a "C" rate door or by another measure 15% thicker than an "E" rate door.
So should the safe body use steel 75% thicker than the "C" standard or steel 15% thicker than the "E" standard? 7/8" or 1-1/8"?
