Wondering the same. Hard to believe years of XMRG pasta posting could be stopped by an email

the funny part is the number goes up because people think it does what XMR does but it doesn’t. it’s a trap for normies desu. they are choosing defacto cbdc slavery.

you sound like a no-coiner in 2017, but even funnier since you display a lack of understanding black markets and prohibition. they can’t ban xmr ir privacy cryptos any more than they can ban cocaine. the worst they can do is just literally make it more scarce against the same (and greater) demand, which is the worst thing they can do. they used to try the same with bitcoin...

Privacy is an arms race, your adversaries are always getting better and cryptographic schemes are eventually broken, so if you're not upgrading/hard forking accordingly you're dying a slow but certain death.

>obviously if monero wasn't profitable there would be zero miners.

lol most Monero miners these days are mining at an (acceptable) loss for purely ideological reasons.

>regardless monero is certainly not secure compared to bitcoin.

lol Bitcoin's hashrate is much more vulnerable to a governmental crackdown than Monero's.

ASICs need to be fabricated = permissioned.
ASICs need to be imported = permissioned.
High-profile mining operations = permissioned.
Access to the power grid = permissioned.
Cashing out to fiat at scale = permissioned.

In other words, Uncle Sam & Friends have way more leverage over prominent Bitcoin miners than they do over anonymous home miners running RandomX on their gaming rigs.

>specialized hardware can exist

RandomX is specifically optimized for general-purpose CPUs and can be tweaked as necessary to cripple any attempts to game the algorithm, Howard Chu literally mentioned this a few days ago on MoneroTalk. And remember that you're dealing with a community that has already proven itself willing to push through hardforks that cripple ASICs. See the CryptoNight saga.

>Monero is an underdog, an outcast, and it will always be "shunned" in one way or another

That's precisely what makes it so damn cool.
