My family isn't mean but my dad did try to talk me out of taking profits on TSLA. He was right, in hindsight, but there's no way to know when it'll pop and I'd already made over 900% return on investment. Also, I still have a considerable position in TSLA, just one my whole portfolio.
He has way more money, he can buy TSLA if he wants. In any case, we've never had any serious arguments about money, probably because they have a good amount of money working as economists. If anything they are good financial role models in that they encourage me to read up on finance and do stuff like refinance my mortgage. I love my parents and it's sad to hear so many stories of financially irresponsible parents. A friend of mine's mom is on a ventilator with COVID and the family is freaking out because she took care of all the finances and the dad literally doesn't know how to access their joint bank account. Makes me wonder how life would've turned out if I didn't have smart parents...
