my bf worked as a system administrator in a school before in hungary and luckily got a nice job in austria in IT infrastructure where he doesn't have to speak german. Apart from luck and having a partner, I would say try learning german if you're planning on going to austria/switzerland/germany.

Also the company was french and he really played up the ga y card of being miserable in hungary so that helped too i guess lol
