People really misunderstand what DJs even do. They mix songs together. That's basically it. You mix and match whatever stuff so the transition from song to song is smooth. If they didn't do that, the song would just end and the next song start from the beginning. There's quite a lot of nuances to doing that, but there isn't any reason for a DJ to be on a big stage doing that stuff, because it probably isn't very interesting to look at.
