He would say that "intentions" don't matter. One's "intentions" are not necessarily what one claims they are, nor are they necessarily what one consciously thinks they are. If you were to observe the output of a machine learning program and try to understand why the program output what it did, you wouldn't consider the program's "intentions".

>After talking Dad bothered to read some books... found out how wrong he was... I got him asking questions

If he does actually understand what he did wrong and why, that's a really rare outcome. Good for you.

In my case and in many others, everything you say that contradicts the parents' ideas is automatically discarded. One time I was discussing some topic with my mother and she discarded my ideas saying that "your ideas aren't worth anything because your brain isn't fully developed." I was 22 at the time, and I had made it 90% of the way though a CS program at a public ivy; she has no higher education. I know that that's barely any context, but trust me, that was the most ridiculous thing anybody could have possibly said in that context. I called that out as an ad hominem argument, opened up the wikipedia page for "ad hominem", she read the first couple of paragraphs, and then denied that it was an ad hominem argument. >System encountered unrecoverable error
