But this business just goes to show the point I've been saying for a bit: this pace of hikes and level, with the amount of debt in the system, is way overdoing it. Fed funds does NOT need to hit CPI to crush inflation and the economy as a whole when debt (public and private) is this high. And if that weren't enough, they are also embarking on the most aggressive M2 withdrawal since the great depression, the effects of which are almost by definition deflationary. If this continues you WILL see negative YOY CPI prints, hard as it may be to believe.

They're overdoing it, and now we're starting to collide with reality, which is that these level of rates and QT is not sustainable. I'm not sure about stocks, maybe they rally cause they think the rate hike hell is over, maybe if bonds rally they pull stocks up. IDK.
