Yeah, state channel projects are pretty much a dead end. There are projects that try to make them a bit more user friendly and stable, like Celer, but its still not really anywhere near close to adoption friendly.

I'm currently thinking white paper related will be the first to make something that can actually be used and has a long term scaling strategy. There is stuff that works RIGHT NOW and works well but has no good way to scale beyond a couple of thousand tx/s, like tendermint/cosmos, or have big tradeoffs like trust POA, like LOOM.

https://www.hubii.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/nahmii-whitepaper.pdf

Necessary attributes of a useful, widely adoptable scaling solution is:
Fast finality
TX/s potential in the tens of millions at least but preferably billions. (a problem to have at the same time as fast finality with plasma variants)
Trustlessness
Predictable fees, extremely small minimum fees.
No need to stay online (hi most state channels) or pay rent for others to store and enforce your balance states for you (hi celer).
Liveness guarantee enforced by non-operator/validator watcher nodes that can trigger and exit of all the 2nd layer's funds to the correct owner addresses on ethereum should the 2nd layer fail.

There's a bunch of other stuff I could probably think of but I'm tired so here you go.

>Top plasma researcher David is involved in a new startup called Bitfish, which is tied to F2pool. F2 pool owns millions of OMG tokens and seems to be trading them actively, because their addresses are moving tokens in and out of bitfinex, increasing their stack to over 3.5million now. When being called out on this, all David had to say was “I handle things professionally”. I’m sorry but im not buying that. There are millions of dollars involved and David probably has the best understanding of what OMG does and can do, also he is the prime plasma researcher. This could be one hefty case of insider trading. David is a good guy and I do not doubt his intentions but this just looks so incredibly bad. You’re trying to tell me F2 pool is willing to accumulate millions of tokens without insider knowledge from the prime plasma researcher on OMG’s payroll??? Wake up. I wouldn’t be surprised this would be one of the things an SEC would look into once the space gets regulation it desperately needs.

Damn. Even the innocent looking autist David Knott is kinda shady. How deluded does one have to be to defend OmiseGo at this point?

Apparently much more deluded than reddit fanboys, who are waking up to the smell of OMG in flames.
