Its a dumb rationalization that if needs be you could leave the country with out declaring it because they have a face value of $1, implying that a imploding government or corrupt official wouldn't seize them anyway. There is also the argument that its more recognizable and illegal to counterfeit which is bullshit since the Chinese make some pretty good fakes of these without anyone stopping them. The reasons for buying these get BTFO when you realize you can buy any circulated junk silver for way less which offers the same protections and the circulated look is harder to counterfeit.
