Anons,

Any of you have any experience with mining?

Most sources have indicated that GPU mining has gone to the wayside in favor of ASIC mining. The thing is I already have two Overclocked GTX 1080s 16gb GDDR5 @ 2400 Mhz on my main rig water cooled in a climate controlled room. My utility cost is fixed and a moderate increase of power usage will go unnoticed.

What can I expect if I mine coin with this machine? There is no initial investment since I already own it and the electricity cost is fixed, so even if I can make a few dollars a day off of it, it would be worth it to me.

Should I try to mine something else beside bitcoin?

I was looking at buying ASIC system however it looks as though the total cost of ownership and operation is not profitable in most instances. I'd be willing to spend ≈ $500 on a ASIC machine, but only if it is worth it. Since the market value and mechanism to mine are volatile I feel like it might be a waste of money.

If I were to buy a machine I would expect to break even within a few months at most, and then scale it up. Many sources that I have read say that they don't even theoretically break even for hundreds of days. They also don't take into account that he algorithms become more complicated over time, thus reducing the output of a given device in the pool.

In short if it won't generate money, I don't see the point in buying anything additional.

That is why I figured I'd try it out with my GPUs since I already own them.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Anon

You guys realise that a government could easily destroy Bitcoin through manipulation if they wanted to, right? It's not going to replace fiat.

My first day on Biz was about 2 weeks ago since then I bought and sold some bitcoin for a small profit. The only buying/trading platform I am on is CoinBase. I own about $400 of ETH now and I want to start gambling and trading shitcoins. What is the Most SECURE/ least venerable Cyrpto trading platform and how do I store my shitcoins, selling/buying to USD. Thanks Again, /Biz

I'm starting to believe all the "bubble" talk. BTC is approaching a $100 billion market cap with very few actual uses. This isn't going to end well.

When you want to get more Bitcoin before the hradfork you have to multiply your current BTC or buy some.
There are coins out there with an x10-x40 potential.
One of them is EBOOST, partnership with an 500.000.000 copany announced, new website is in progress and many other projects for the next coming months.
Its not a scam or something, it makes money and thats all what matters.
I bought 3 days ago about 200k EBST because this coin will reach a MC of 250-500million Marketcap before the 25th due the upcoming announcements and news.

So take one BTC go into EBST and pull them out before 25th so you get more BTG,,, done

I am not going to shill this one, its just a trading advice.

Many groups and real traders have realized the potential of that one in the last days, so dont be too late and have a bit of patience.
Those who can wait will make it,

I am starting to get into Bitcoin, and currently getting myself a wallet setup. I know that even though it would have been better to have done it when it was starting out, but as the saying goes: "Now is better than ever". Any advice or thoughts?

I can't give myself instant credibility, I understand that.

Selling should not even cross your mind.
Acquiring Bitcoin should be your only objective.
The next "lesson" the media teaches is the term the Satoshi(sats)
The Overton's Window is in effect.

Hi all,

So I know it's a LONG shot, but back in August of 2013, I had 40 BTC stolen. Basically somebody hacked into my Gmail, found my wallet.dat file, and then moved my coins from my blockchain wallet (https://blockchain.info/tx/3ea2a7343d5623058ac7cc403d82e4fc9a351ef0e8818f1fe0d1b3351e6ad434).). I was quite dumb back then, and didn't have 2FA enabled on my Gmail.

I am not tech savvy enough to try to identify the perpetrator (though I know even if I was it's very difficult due to possible IP masking and use of a mixer), but is there any way I can post a bounty here for 5 BTC if somebody is able to track down my coins so I can retrieve them? Or is there somewhere else I can post a similar bounty?

I know it's a very long-shot, but I feel like $25K USD may make it worthwhile to try for somebody. I can obviously provide more detail (and some of that can be found here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=269443.msg2882400#msg2882400))

Thanks!

I plan on spending 200 dollars a month, starting this month, for the next 12 months buying bitcoin (2400 dollars), then after the 12 months I'll evaluate whether i should continue any further or just sell and never come back. What are your predictions as to how this will turn out? How much money do you think I'll be able to make?

Also as a side note: how much percentage in taxes gets taken out when i report it to the irs if i make money?
