Think of it like this - what was the last activity you did almost daily for 8+ hours a day that wasn't breathing? Originally, the trade-off was that you would make good money in exchange for almost 40% of your waking hours being used waging. But that ship has sailed a long, long time ago.

WFH was a small bone thrown to the wagie laborers, since it allowed a bit of freedom. But that was short-lived, and numerous CEOs & Execs gave bullshit reasons why they axed WFH like:
>better face-to-face working
>synergy
>we're all on the same page now
etc. etc. with little-to-no data proving it was better overall for the workforce.
To this day, I have never heard a good excuse for why an RTO policy was required other than "Because we said so."
