I just got a letter from the IRS saying I owe them $42,053.56.

The thing is, I didn't know shit about my crypto taxes - I put my numbers in to like 3 different tax softwares and got 3 different numbers. My best guess was roughly $36,000.

So I went ahead and just overestimated to be on the safe side as I heard the IRS is cracking down on crypto taxes this year and put $42,053.56 as per my CPA's recommendations.

They basically said that matched their records, down to the cent.
